Dogs on the Road ~ Jaeger of The Traveling Together Journal

Today, I want to introduce you to Jaeger, who is traveling the PanAmerican highway as well! Jaeger and his parents Matt and Amie from The Traveling Together Journal, is only a short way behind me and so I really hope to meet him in person soon. Until then, enjoy his stories from the road.

Please offer up a short blurb about who you are? Age? Who else is in your family?

I’m Jaeger. I have a few nick names Brown Bear, Old Man, and Super Senior. I’m a pretty mellow guy these days. I generally do what I want, and pretend I can’t hear unless it’s food time or when my family is packing up the car because I don’t want to get left behind. Amie adopted me when I was 10 weeks old, and Matt joined our family when I was 9 years old. Today I’m 13 1/2 years old. Lately I have been called Super Senior a lot, because Amie was really worried that I was getting too tired to go on all the hikes they where hoping to do this winter in the Mountains of Mexico.  I was moving pretty slow, and I would not last long during walks on the beach, but that was because it was way too hot. Now we have been trying to summit big volcano peaks and I’m doing better then they are. This makes them really happy.

Lake Living

Well I have to say,  we are now in a place that is nearly doggie perfection. Mom and dad keep talking about how beautiful it is. Well, I don’t really know, or care, about that… but I can attest to the fact that the weather is perfect! Sunny and comfortable during the day, a little bit of rain most afternoons, and sleeping weather at night. What more could a dog ask for? Well, a lot more.. but first, let me tell you about the trip here!

Heading to Cooler Climates

Well, I apologize for how long it’s been since I posted. You just can’t imagine how much traveling we’ve done! Mom and dad knew I wasn’t so happy with the heat and humidity down at the beach (neither were they) so we headed to the hills. We have been ALL OVER. We visited quite a few pueblo magico towns, mom just loves those places. I like it because when we go into town I get to wear my necklace that Dave & Anne found for me!

Dogs on the Road Interview – Max & Copper of Clunkmonkey

Hello fellow doggie friends! I apologize profusely for not writing these last couple of months. What can I say? I just wasn’t too happy in the heat and humidity of Puerto Vallarta, and being locked in the apartment much of the day. These last three weeks have been a true whirlwind of activity. We moved out of the apartment, and back in our tiny house on wheels. We have explored magic towns, and the biggest lake in Mexico, but most important, we headed to the hills to escape the heat of summer! I am so much happier now, living in my little safe place, and spending much of my time outside with mom and dad, exploring the world and meeting new pups.

Today I offer you a Dogs on the Road interview a long time in coming. Max and Copper were going to stop by and see me in Puerto Vallarta, but sadly plans just didn’t work out that way. Below enjoy their interview of life on the road, but see the sad footnote at the end of their interview.

My Friend Hedgy

When Porter died, mom got me a stuffed hedgehog toy. She knew how sad I was and thought I might want a new cuddle buddy. I had nothing to do with it. I missed Porter and his silly dance. I missed licking his ears, even when I knew he didn’t want to admit he liked it. I missed him. Its now been almost two months since he has been gone and, although I still miss him very much, I now have my new friend Hedgy.

Dogs on the Road Interview ~ Rasta & Rose of BurlyDirtyHippy

I am thrilled, today, to present my Dogs on the Road interview with Rasta and Rose of @burlydirtyhippy and The Ecclectic Dirtbags. Porter and I first met Rasta and Rose, and their parents Bruce and Jodi, in Baja at the Pescadero Surf Camp. We thought they were SO much like us. Rasta is a bit of a delicate flower, bothered by the heat and bugs, etc while Rose is like myself, TOTALLY fetch obsessed.

I was lucky enough to camp with them for a full week in Sayulita, so got to know them a little bit better. Here are their thoughts of the life of Dogs on the Road.

Tell me a little about yourselves~

Hello, I am Rasta, a 9 year old Harlequin Great Dane. I have been with my parents
since I was a pup. I grew up helping momma around the farm, hunting down all the pesky
groundhogs and watching over the chickens. I really loved farm life. Rose the Red
Lab-ish showed up a little over three years ago. I must say she was a little too
energetic for me at first, but her sweetness quickly won me over.

Apartment Life in Puerto Vallarta

Well, my circumstances have changed YET again!

After leaving the United States, mom and dad drove us back into Mexico and I could not have been happier. Mexicans are so much nicer about letting me go everywhere with my family AND I get to go on all the beaches, not just stinky dog beach like in San Diego.

Back on the Road

WOW. It has been a crazy few weeks! I was awfully sad after I lost my brother Porter, but mom and dad spoiled me even more than before. It took me a couple of weeks to get out of my funk but it helped that we were back on the road and racing all over the place!
