Loving our Days at the Beach

By Aspen ~

Lately Porter and I have been the luckiest dogs in the whole world! Not only have we been going away every weekend with mom and dad but most of the time we’ve been going to the beach!! Now, I really like any place with water, and prefer to actually play in a lake or stream because those ocean waves and currents can be downright scary! But at my beloved beach, I get to run around off leash… true dog freedom.

A Weekend on the River

By Porter ~

We arrived after dark and I was STARVING! Luckily, as soon as we got to camp we saw uncles’ Ron and Dario and I knew we’d be in for a fun weekend. We had been to Deschutes River State Park once before but that was a terrible trip! It was SO hot that we couldn’t stand to sleep in our camper (this was before daddy installed fans for us) and we ended up sleeping on the ground beside the camper. I had been too nervous to sleep because, well, you know one of my many duties in the pack is guard dog and I couldn’t very well guard my family if I was asleep could I?

Clear Lake Campground – A Camping Review

By Porter ~

This year mom and dad have seemed to make it their goal to try out a lot of new campgrounds. I think Clear Lake might become one of our favorites. For one thing, it was close to home. I have eventually come to understand that we spend a lot of the time in the truck when we go camping. Thats okay because if we’re in the truck, it means we’ll be camping and spending family time together, and that is all I really care about. Having said that, traveling is tiring for a little dog and I am only now learning to lie down and most of the time I have to snuggle in where I can because fat girl, I mean Aspen, tends to not only take up a lot of the seat BUT she also wants to lie right in the middle so I’m stuck on one side or the other.

Happy Birthday Porter!

By Aspen~

This weekend we’re going camping to celebrate my brother Porters birthday. Well, I don’ t know if that is WHY we’re going camping, because we do that often, but we also get to celebrate Porter living with mommy & daddy for two whole years, which is a long time in dog years!

I’m just hoping we might get some extra special kibble treats in celebration.

Happy Birthday Porter! I love you.

Barview Jetty ~ Campground Review

By Porter ~

While we have been to Barview Jetty before, we had a completely difference experience this year and I wanted to do a campground review on it. Mom and dad didn’t really want to go, after the pricing debacles of Webb County campground last month, they claimed it was too expensive for what you get. Last year we were on the end site, right next to the beach, which SHOULD have been wonderful, but it was very crowded, busy, and noisy with obnoxious people constantly hanging out in front of our camp. I was exhausted from having to be on patrol all the time.

Webb County Park ~ Campground Review

By Aspen ~   Well, I just have to say, our latest experience at Webb County Campground was less than extraordinary! We had stayed here before for just one night and I remember mom & dad didn’t like it very much. They complained about the facilities, whatever those are, not being so nice, and how expensive it was becoming. And, even though Porter and I are VERY clean and well behaved dogs, we got yelled at when mommy took us into the bathroom with her early in the morning. I wasn’t sure what the big deal with, it’s a cement floor that they hose out, what did they think we could do to it? DSCN1585_1152 read more
