Happy Birthday Aspen!

Monday was Aspens second year as a Delameter! I am so happy mom and dad brought her home to play with me because I was SO lonely and unhappy when I was home by myself all day. We like to go camping for our birthdays but this year mom and dad raced right home from work to watch some football game. It was nice to have us all there, together, but I would have rather been camping.

Aspen has finally learned how to play with me the way I like, but she gets tired too easy. I don’t quite understand that since she can fetch for hours and never get tired but maybe it’s because she didn’t really know how to dog play before. She has taught me how to cuddle. Just a little bit, mind you, I’m not quite to her level of snuggling right up in between mom and dad, but she’s shown me that it’s okay when we are all touching. I have to admit it’s sort of comforting to know she’s there.

After two years in the family, I have to say, she still isn’t the best on the leash. Mom has done SO much work with her but that girl just is wants to go full throttle ahead all the time. It might be a rumor, but I overheard mom and dad mentioning some gentle walk harness thing for her birthday present. Maybe then she’ll finally walk my pace, which, lets be honest, is really more of a stroll. I think it’s important to take your time and smell the roses, I mean pee on the roses, instead of always rushing along. But, I’m sure she’ll get old and lazy like me some day.

Happy Birthday to my fellow black dog. I’m so happy you came to stay! I love you Aspen.
