On the Road

By Porter ~

Today marks two weeks since mom & dad packed us up in the truck/camper and headed out on the road and I couldn’t be happier. Well, I could be if that CAT at the campsite next door didn’t keep giving me the eye and, perhaps, if I liked the looks of one particular german shepherd loitering around more… but other than that Aspen and I are in heaven.

Dogs on the Road ~ Malta of From Here Until There

Porter and I are super excited to be hitting the road ourselves in just ONE WEEK! But we will keep sharing interviews from our fellow, traveling dogs. Next up is Malta of From Here until There. Malta and her family are currently in Mexico and we hope to be meeting her in person shortly.

Hello!!
My name is Malta. I’m four years old and live with my mom and dad and brother, Fitz. My brother didn’t get to come on this trip because he is way less friendly than me, but he seems to be incredibly happy on the farm with my grandparents and his other sister. We Skype sometimes. Also, every time I see an open car door I feel an overwhelming compulsion to get inside. Even if mom and dad aren’t going anywhere. That’s how I let them know they had to take me along.

Dogs on the Road Interview ~ Emma of Together We Roam

As we are on the final countdown to our own life on the road, we continue to enjoy bringing you stories of other pups out there roaming the world with their parents. Next up, Emma of Together we Roam! Welcome Emma.

Please offer up a short blurb about who you are? Age? Who else is in your family?

Most say that I’m a Mini Aussie, I personally like to consider myself human. I hear my Mom say I’ll be 5 in January, feels more like 35 to me.
I’m currently living the #vandog life with my Mom and her main man – Parker. Don’t tell Mom, but I usually favor him. Most days are chalk full of naps on the bed in the back, but it’s the hiking and beach days that I love the most. That fresh salty sand on your paws … nothing beats it!!

For the Holidays we are heading back to NJ to visit Grandma, Grandpa, Sairy (12 yo Springer Spaniel) and Remi (5 yo Aussie) as well as various other barnyard animals. Remi and I share a language that is unknown to most. No one else seems to understand why I chase after him while biting at the scruff of his neck, but he does. I’d even go as far to say that he likes it!! I think we’ll also see my cousin Tela (5 yo Springer Spaniel) during Thanksgiving. She’s traveling down from Vermont.

The Life we Lead

By Porter ~

Our life has been changed up since mom and dad sold our house and we moved into town. In some ways, Aspen and I aren’t quite as happy. Without our dog door and big yard to roam, our days are spent either lounging on the bed and couch in the house, or on the back deck, both fine options but not delivering the energy release of our former life. Aspen, definitely an outdoor dog, misses being able to spend her evenings lounging on the grass in the front yard. In addition, I am almost always on the leash as we walk through neighborhoods rather than racing about our two acres.

Finding Nirvana

By Aspen~

Last weekend mom & dad brought us to the lake. Not just any lake, but a lake where our group had our own little beach. A lake that was only a foot or so deep for a very long ways into the water. A lake where I got to swim and fetch and nap and roll in the sand and do it all over again. A lake where mom and dad left me off leash nearly all weekend, and even Porter got to spend time frolicking free. In other words. Doggie Nirvana.

The Holes we Dig ~ or, the day Aspen tunneled out AGAIN!

By Porter ~

I love my adopted sister, Aspen, I really do. But I do NOT understand what is with that dogs crazy desire to escape our own personal doggie nirvana. I mean, we have 2 lush acres to roam, several sheds to loaf under, our private swimming pool, AND a dog door into the climate controlled house where comfy pads call out for naps. I even have my very own shavings pile that mom put under cover but near the driveway so I can stay warm and dry while I wait for them to come home. And yet, yesterday Aspen decided digging under the blackberry bushes to get into the neighbors horse pasture was a good idea.
