Well, I have just got to thank mom and dad for bringing me here to Camp Coeur D’Alene! I am having the best time as camp ambassador. It’s really nice here with SO much to smell. Every day we go on hikes and long walks. I get to play fetch, of course, my very favorite thing and get to go swimming. along with fellow camp dogs Bailey, Zorro, and Freddy.
It’s raining. And I mean it is RAINING. Like all the time. What can I say, I’m just a little dog, but what the hell were mom and dad thinking by heading north and back to Oregon? I mean, it’s raining! And cold. And there is no beach to run on every day. I guess you can tell by my tone a lot has happened since my last update.
Next up in my interview series is another rescue pup, Taquita from Home on the Highway. My mom and dad have followed her parents, James and Lauren, trip down the Pan Am highway for several years now. We were all thrilled to hear that they had decided to rescue a little pup they found abandoned and alone along a remote stretch of Mexican highway. Here are her thoughts on life on the road.
Well, it’s official. Mom & dad tell me that today is my 4 years as a Delameter birthday! Wow, 4 years already and it’s been quite a ride.
Okay, in the interest of full disclosure, I didn’t really KISS the pig. I know, I know, two different species acting in such a way? Well, you need to hear the whole story.
Most of our days here at the lake are really great. Mom and dad make sure I get a lot of exercise, cuddle time, multiple naps, and most days I even get to go and fetch my coconut in the lake. Really, what could be better?
Well I have to say, we are now in a place that is nearly doggie perfection. Mom and dad keep talking about how beautiful it is. Well, I don’t really know, or care, about that… but I can attest to the fact that the weather is perfect! Sunny and comfortable during the day, a little bit of rain most afternoons, and sleeping weather at night. What more could a dog ask for? Well, a lot more.. but first, let me tell you about the trip here!
When Porter died, mom got me a stuffed hedgehog toy. She knew how sad I was and thought I might want a new cuddle buddy. I had nothing to do with it. I missed Porter and his silly dance. I missed licking his ears, even when I knew he didn’t want to admit he liked it. I missed him. Its now been almost two months since he has been gone and, although I still miss him very much, I now have my new friend Hedgy.
I have to say, I have become something of a celebrity here in town! In fact, it could be said I am the Belle of Puerto Vallarta.
I have been having a bit of a tough time this two weeks. Porter was my family, my pack, and with him gone we are all sad. Mom and dad don’t cry all the time, anymore, but I know they wish he was still with us. Being a dog, I don’t fully understand it all, but I do know my little buddy was really sick and now isn’t with us anymore. I’m so glad we got to spend that last day together though, and that mom and dad let me be in the room when he went to sleep so I could touch his nose and tell him goodbye in my own way. Now I am finding my way on my own.
We are thrilled to share Gracie’s interview you on our Dogs on the Road series. We camped with Gracie and her people, Sunny and Karin, just a few weeks ago on a gorgeous beach in Baja. What a joy to actually get to play with one of the dogs on our blog!
First, I want to thank you for the opportunity to speak on my own behalf. I’m not a big talker but my mom doesn’t usually let me get a word in when people ask me about myself.
