I can’t believe its been two months since I did a blog post but I have been one busy black dog meetin’ and greetin’. It may seem idyllic to spend winters lounging about Baja but believe me, the job of a black dog ambassador is never done.
Well, here it is, another birthday. Mom & dad STILL can’t seem to decide how old they think I am since I’m adopted. But what I do know is that this is my 5th birthday as a Delameter and believe me, I am one lucky dog.
So, you know how dogs don’t really appreciate time? And how we age seven years for each human year? Well, I admit to not paying much attention to time but I DO know it took us a long time to get down here to Baja!
Well, we closed up camp. It was a little odd when guests stopped arriving~ you know the meet & greet is a prime portion of my job as a black dog camp ambassador! However, with the weather turning colder and days getting shorter, I have to admit to being happy to spend more time in my super cozy bed.
It’s raining. And I mean it is RAINING. Like all the time. What can I say, I’m just a little dog, but what the hell were mom and dad thinking by heading north and back to Oregon? I mean, it’s raining! And cold. And there is no beach to run on every day. I guess you can tell by my tone a lot has happened since my last update.
I have been having a bit of a tough time this two weeks. Porter was my family, my pack, and with him gone we are all sad. Mom and dad don’t cry all the time, anymore, but I know they wish he was still with us. Being a dog, I don’t fully understand it all, but I do know my little buddy was really sick and now isn’t with us anymore. I’m so glad we got to spend that last day together though, and that mom and dad let me be in the room when he went to sleep so I could touch his nose and tell him goodbye in my own way. Now I am finding my way on my own.

Ever since mom and dad first took me to the beach, I have suspected I was a beach dog. Oh, I am a lab, which means I love doing pretty much ANYTHING, but the beach is my favorite. I tend to get so excited I hop around and mom calls me her bouncy puppy. I must admit I feel young and free when running the beach!

Today marks two weeks since mom & dad packed us up in the truck/camper and headed out on the road and I couldn’t be happier. Well, I could be if that CAT at the campsite next door didn’t keep giving me the eye and, perhaps, if I liked the looks of one particular german shepherd loitering around more… but other than that Aspen and I are in heaven.
