Road Tripping with Mom & Dad

Mom & Dad recently went on vacation but this time I got to go along! In three years this was my very first official Delameter road trip and I was so excited.

Back in the spring Mom and Dad bought me a vacation house on wheels that they call a pop-up truck camper and named her Taquito. I LOVE going camping in Taquito. It’s very small so I can be right next to them all of the time and the bed is so fun. It’s up above so Mom & Dad lift me up each night so I get to sleep with them all night. It’s perfect. We get to go to so many fun places that we can’t go to in my main house. That’s right, I am a very spoiled dog having two houses to call my own.

One Dog’s Review – Critter Nanny Doggie Daycare

As you probably know, my parents recently headed off to Costa Rica and left me behind! Lucky for me I got to go visit my friends at Critter Nanny where I stay when they’re traveling. Although I haven’t been there since the fall of 2021, I was excited to see my friends Nancy and Jim still there to greet me.

I can Swim!

After a VERY busy summer here at the resort, life is beginning to move at a slightly slower pace. To celebrate mom & dad took me TENT CAMPING. Now, you probably know we live in a lovely travel trailer, which I like to think of as my own personal safe place. Generally, when we go on our weekend trips we either stay with grandma & grandpa or friends in Portland. When we go camping in other spots we simply hook up and take our trailer with us.

A Late Introduction ~ My Name is Ryder

My name is Ryder and I can’t believe I’m lucky enough to be the new voice of The Black Dog Chronicles! I’ve been a Delameter for nearly two years already, you know that’s nearly 14 years in dog years, but have delayed in beginning my writing career for a long time because I just wasn’t feeling so well. More about that soon.

The Black Dog Chronicles Return with a New Face

Welcome back! It’s unbelievable to think it’s been six years since the last BDC post. Back then, Aspen was still living the dream traveling Mexico and Guatemala with mom & dad. After they all returned to the United States and mom & dad went back to work she led a more leisurely life as campground ambassador while still enjoying winters in Baja.

My Friend Hedgy

When Porter died, mom got me a stuffed hedgehog toy. She knew how sad I was and thought I might want a new cuddle buddy. I had nothing to do with it. I missed Porter and his silly dance. I missed licking his ears, even when I knew he didn’t want to admit he liked it. I missed him. Its now been almost two months since he has been gone and, although I still miss him very much, I now have my new friend Hedgy.

Keeping Cool

I have to say, that while I am enjoying Puerto Vallarta, it is HOT. And more than hot there is something mom & dad call humidity. I don’t think I know exactly what that is but I do know it makes me pant a lot and can even make it hard to breath!

Dogs on the Road Interview ~ Rasta & Rose of BurlyDirtyHippy

I am thrilled, today, to present my Dogs on the Road interview with Rasta and Rose of @burlydirtyhippy and The Ecclectic Dirtbags. Porter and I first met Rasta and Rose, and their parents Bruce and Jodi, in Baja at the Pescadero Surf Camp. We thought they were SO much like us. Rasta is a bit of a delicate flower, bothered by the heat and bugs, etc while Rose is like myself, TOTALLY fetch obsessed.

I was lucky enough to camp with them for a full week in Sayulita, so got to know them a little bit better. Here are their thoughts of the life of Dogs on the Road.

Tell me a little about yourselves~

Hello, I am Rasta, a 9 year old Harlequin Great Dane. I have been with my parents
since I was a pup. I grew up helping momma around the farm, hunting down all the pesky
groundhogs and watching over the chickens. I really loved farm life. Rose the Red
Lab-ish showed up a little over three years ago. I must say she was a little too
energetic for me at first, but her sweetness quickly won me over.
